This started when I got told that the details don't matter, that I'm spending too much time on them, and that most people just want something put together, even if it's not perfectly right. Most people enjoy my itineraries, and most people don't need this hyper level of route-planning, of the best in class fjordlands tour, of the best option of location vs price vs quality for their accommodation. What's important is getting it done, because they might do things differently but when all's said and done it's a holiday they want pulling together, the basics they want locking down, and actually if you start digging into the minutiae then when does it end? As long as it mostly works, and they've got someone with enough confidence to tell them so.

I should probably apply this advice to my own planning..
